“Be your own cheerleader. Don’t look for acceptance from anyone else…look in the mirror and say to yourself, ‘I can do it!”
– Alvina Alston
If you think life has dealt you an unfair hand and the challenges you face are insurmountable; or that your loss and heartbreak can never be healed, you need to meet Alvina Alston.
Alvina was raised by a single mother in the housing projects of Buffalo, New York. Her father was a career criminal and drug abuser who was found dead in 1994. Though she grew up without a father, she didn’t use that as an excuse for giving up, and credits her mother with helping her to believe in herself. “My mother instilled in me from a very early age that there was nothing I couldn’t do and that nothing was impossible.”
Strengthened by her mother’s spirit, she graduated with honors from New York Technical University with a BFA in Communications, becoming the first college graduate in her family.
After graduating, Alvina honed her skills at an impressive list of television stations that included stints at Inside Edition and WABC Eyewitness News. She also worked at several news stations in Connecticut and New Jersey.
Though she has survived the most heartbreaking losses, including that of her sister and her own triplets that died in infancy, Alvina refuses to use that as an excuse to feel sorry for herself. “We all question God and wonder why things happen, but I always believed in God and that things happened for a reason. Whatever was taken from me, God always gave me back even more than I had lost.”
Her extensive background in media inspired Alvina to launch her own company in 2008. Her company, More Media Hits provides state of the art video and media training to aid clients in increasing their coverage and media exposure.
Besides running her company, Alvina also serves as Senior Segment Producer and Chief Senior Writer at FOX Network in New York.
Whether she’s at FOX or More Media Hits or just living her everyday life, Alvina inspires everyone she comes in contact with to believe in themselves and never give up.
“Have your amor on. Life is full of curve balls and if you have your bat in hand you’ll be ready to play. When a curve ball comes shoot for the stars and swing away!”
